Vrishabhavati (2019)

Through a unique presentation of Evaporation and Condensation in dance, we see the Bangalore rains bringing home the beautiful daughter of the land. Rising in Bangalore’s Dakshina mukha nandi in an unexplainable act of hydraulic engineering. She flows through the mouth of Lord Shiva’s trusted bull, Nandi, through a copper pot and showers herself on her Lord, Shiva. As she steps out, she looks at Bangalore's green beauty, culture, architecture and geography, also its crowds, traffic, pollution, and factories.

She gets out of the temple, into the bustling city and continues flowing, offering her salutations to Gali Anjaneya at Girinagar. Through Guddadahalli and Bapujinagar, under the railway tracks of Okalipura, and after visiting our beloved Rajarajeshwari devi, she continues to journey on and what does she see! Her home is devastated, being referred to as the gutter of Kengeri. There is garbage and stench, like post-war debris. Where did her home go? Once a grand river, a grieving Vrishabhavati looks on at her fallen home.
